Bealach an Fhéir Ghortaigh / Hunger's WayStrokestown International Poetry Festival presents a film poem, Bealach an Fhéir Ghortaigh / Hunger’s Way, directed and produced by Vincent Woods and Edwina Guckian which connects the experience of Ireland’s Gorta Mór in the context and landscape of Strokestown and the northwest to a wider contemporary world of famine, dispossession and enforced migration.

The journey of the film will take us through the past, along the new, emerging path of present-day remembrance and into the heart of how poetry, song, dance and music make the eternal future.

Bealach an Fhéir Ghortaigh / Hunger’s Way includes poems by Eiléan NÍ Chuilleanáin, Jane Clarke, Paddy Bushe, Moya Cannon, James Harpur, Eva Bourke, Pádraig MacFhearghusa, Vona Groarke, Tom French, Kathleen Hill and Joseph Woods. New artwork by Galway artist Miriam de Búrca has been made for the film and music and song by Danny Diamond, Patsy Hanly, Mai Malone, John Tuohy and Mohammad Saif-Khan will be featured. Filmed in and around Strokestown Park House, the National Famine Museum and surrounding landscapes.
