Colm Tóibín was born in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, in 1955. He has worked as a journalist and travelled widely. He has published collections of short stories, books of criticism and non-fiction, and nine novels, three of which have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize. They include The Master (Winner of the Dublin IMPAC Prize), Brooklyn, Nora Webster and House of Names. He is Mellon Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. Previous plays are Beauty in a Broken Place and Testament. This is his first Gallery book.
