'...a
new play of rare delicacy'
— Desmond Rushe, The Irish Independent
As
David Nowlan wrote in The Irish Times: 'I have seldom experienced
in the theatre such an intellectual challenge to the emotions.'
The
framework is simple: in the first act a middle-aged Charles and
Helen are bidding adieu to their world, swapping memories of a
white honeymoon, a white hospital ward, and a succession of recollections
of his thoughts and her feelings. In the second act, a very young Charles and
Helen are facing the threats and promises of a new world together, swapping
visions of what is and what may be to come.
Aidan Mathews's first published play represents 'one of the most satisfying evenings of pure theatre seen in years.'
